Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a very gentle, but extremely powerful hands-on treatment for cleansing the body, specifically the connective tissue. Manual lymph drainage uses a specific amount of pressure (less than 9 ounces per square inch) and rhythmic circular movements to stimulate lymph flow. These benefits have been researched and well documented for over 60 different conditions for people suffering from acute or chronic illnesses as well as for anyone interested in health, wellness and beauty.
The lymphatic system helps to maintain lymph fluid levels and functions as a line of defense against infection. MLD is a light massage that helps to move the lymphatic fluid through the lymphatic system at an increased pace which helps with the healing process. MLD has been shown to reduce swelling which can reduce pain and discomfort and it keeps the fluids moving to decrease the chances of scarring or fibrotic tissue (hardening of the tissue). MLD can help reduce the recovery time after plastic surgery as well. MLD treatments may be beneficial for issues related to burns/scars, post-mastectomy, post-hysterectomy, post amputation, pre-surgery preparation, varicose veins and post vein stripping, sprains/strains, rheumatoid arthritis, sinusitis, tinnitus, tension headaches and chronic pain.

*Plastic surgery results in trauma to the body and you may observe bruising, swelling, hardness, or lumpiness around the area you had the surgery done. This is a result of inflammation as the body heals and may be trauma from the cannula used during the surgery. Initially, most clients return for MLD sessions every few days to 1-week depending on client comfort, availability and desired outcome. As your body goes through the different phases of healing additional forms of massage may be added to enhance the healing process.
